Dr. Thomas Patrianakos is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, Dr. Patrianakos has close ties with many of his patients and the surrounding community.
Dr. Patrianakos graduated cum laude from Loyola University-Chicago with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Sociology in 1996. He then obtained his medical degree from Midwestern University in 2001. He completed his internal medicine internship at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was awarded the Program Directors Award for Excellence in Medicine. Dr. Patrianakos completed his residency in ophthalmology in 2006 at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he served as Chief Resident during his last year of training. In 2007, he completed a glaucoma fellowship in Boston at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary-Harvard Medical school.
Dr. Patrianakos serves as a teacher and assistant clinical professor in the department of ophthalmology at both the University of Chicago Hospital and the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County. He has frequently presented lectures on glaucoma and general ophthalmology to residents, physicians and patients. In addition to this, he has published numerous articles in professional journals of ophthalmology.
He has surgical and admitting privileges at Swedish Covenant Hospital and is a member of many professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, Chandler Grant Society, Chicago Ophthalmologic Society, and Illinois Association of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Thomas Patrianakos resides in Chicago with his lovely wife, Leah, who is a physician assistant in Urology and their son Dimitrios.
Dr. Patrianakos goal is to provide top of the line care to all his patients. He strives to constantly keep current in the art of ophthalmic care and to be an innovator in his field.
